What is the history of paper cup development?

Ice Cream Cup Logo Printed.jpgThe paper cups that were first introduced were conical, hand-made, glued, easier to separate, and must be used as quickly as possible. Later, the folded paper cups were pleated on the side walls to increase the strength of the side walls and the durability of the paper cups, but it was more difficult to print the patterns on these folded surfaces, and the effect was not satisfactory.

In 1932, the first wax-coated two-piece paper cup came out, and its smooth surface could be printed with various exquisite patterns to enhance the promotion effect. The paper cup is coated with wax, which can avoid direct contact between the beverage and the paper, and can protect the adhesiveness of the adhesive and enhance the durability of the paper cup; on the other hand, the thickness of the side wall is increased, so that the strength of the paper cup is greatly improved, thereby reducing Reduce the cost of production by making the amount of paper necessary to make a stronger paper cup. As waxed paper cups become containers for cold beverages, one would also like to use a convenient utensil to hold hot beverages. However, the hot beverage melts the wax layer on the inner surface of the paper cup, and the glue bonding port separates. Therefore, the general wax coated paper cup is not suitable for holding hot drinks.

In order to expand the scope of application of paper cups, in 1940, straight-walled double-layer paper cups were introduced to the market. This paper cup is not only easy to carry, but also can be used to hold hot drinks. Thereafter, the manufacturer applies latex on these cups to cover the "cardboard flavor" of the paper and enhance the leakproofness of the paper cup. Latex coated single-layer waxed cups are widely used in self-service vending machines to hold hot coffee.
